Chiefs Should Announce RFA Tenders Very Soon

The Kansas City Chiefs have released five players that ended the 2009 season with the team. Coincidentally (or, uh, not) all the players released ended the season on injured reserve.

The Chiefs now have decisions to make on a bunch of players (we talked about the offensive line a little more in-depth yesterday).

The Chiefs can retain the following restricted free agents with a tender: QB Brodie Croyle, LB Derrick Johnson, LB Corey Mays, OL Ikechuku Ndukwe, OL Rudy Niswanger, OL Ryan O’Callaghan, S Jarrad Page and OL Andy Alleman (not expected to be tendered).

I suspect every player on that list (save Alleman) will be offered some sort of tender.

The Chiefs also have several unrestricted free agents to worry about. The biggest question marks, in my mind, are LB Mike Vrabel, OL Wade Smith, WR Chris Chambers and S Mike Brown.

The Chiefs are reportedly Vrabel's "first choice" and bringing Chambers back is a "priority" right now. We'll see what happens with the others.

Last year, the Chiefs announced RFA tenders on the day before free agency began. Today happens to be the day before free agency kicks off so look for those moves to be happening very, very soon.

So basically get ready for a flood of REAL Chiefs news to come flowing in. This should be fun.
