Our Chiefs Draft Interests Table...Coming Soon To A War Room Near You

I was listening to an excellent podcast from former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah last evening where he gave a run down on what happens on these pre-draft player visits, what teams are looking for and other interesting nuggets (more on that later).

I also came across something pretty interesting that makes me wonder if we're doing the Chiefs a disservice by tracking all their draft interests.

We always had young guys that were scouring the news clips to see which players were visiting which schools. We would always try to keep track of that.

This sounds just like our Chiefs draft interests table (put it in after the jump) where we track the players the Chiefs are rumored to be interested in, who they spoke to at the all-star games and, yes, pre-draft visits.

So, on draft day when we were getting ready to pick we might say, 'We like this player a couple picks away but there's a chance San Francisco might pick this player. Well let's look down the list. They brought him in for a visit so that's a sign they're at least interested in this kid. So then is it worth it to move up because there's interest there?'

So basically some team could use our draft interests chart against the Chiefs on draft day?

Quite the conundrum.
