The Kansas City Chiefs were one of 22 NFL teams represented at the Vanderbilt pro day on Friday afternoon. Also joining the clubs at the stadium was Jay Cutler, who went to Vanderbilt.
14 players worked out.
Vanderbilt doesn't have any high-level prospects but here's a look at a couple of players the Chiefs might be looking at.
OT Thomas Welch
Welch, 6'7" and 307 pounds, was there to improve his forty time which he did by about a tenth of a second to 5.38.
He switched from right tackle to left tackle in 2009 so he's got experience on both sides.
He sprained his ankle late in the 2009 season which limited him.
CB Myron Lewis
Lewis is a big cornerback at 6'2" and 185 pounds. That size could be useful against the bigger and bigger receivers.
Lewis is expected to go in the middle rounds.
He has several private workouts set up but we haven't heard the Chiefs are involved.
SS Ryan Hamilton
Hamilton is 6'2" and 210 pounds.
He's not projected to be drafted so if the Chiefs are interested it would be a project.
He was injured very early in the 2009 season ending his season. He didn't receive a sixth-year of eligibility.
WR Justin Green
Definitely not projected to be drafted but Green is a pass-catching tight end. He comes in at 6'6" and 235 pounds and runs in the 4.7 forty range.
