On February 19th we heard the news that former Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast had left the Oakland Raiders to become the defensive coordinator for Cal-Berkeley.
We hadn't heard of him bringing in any former Chiefs coaches....until today.
The other AP reports that Cal has hired former Chiefs coach Ronnie Bradford. He was hired in March 2009 and spent one year under Pendergast as the assistant defensive backs coach.
No word yet on if the Chiefs will replace him.
Unrelated to the Chiefs, Cal also announced the hiring of former NFL QB Akili Smith. He was the third overall pick by the Bengals in the 1999 draft.
