The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to be active in free agency once again this offseason. Last year, the Chiefs were among the most active consistently shuffling players in and out. However, most of those weren't "big name" free agents that we'd been keeping our eye on.
This year some expect the Chiefs to make a splash with a name or two simply because the Chiefs need playmakers at a lot of places and there are only so many draft choices.
Two of the big name free agents we've been following are Panthers DE Julius Peppers and Chargers RB Darren Sproles.
According to Jason Reid of the Washington Post, the Redskins are expected to make a run at Peppers. It's a bit surprising considering the cash they have devoted to Albert Haynesworth but until they prove otherwise, the Redskins will be connected to every high-priced free agent out there.
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Redskins could also be taking a peek at Chargers free-agent-to-be RB Darren Sproles.
The Chargers hold out hope they can entice Sproles to return with a multiyear contract offer. However, sources said the deep-pocketed Washington Redskins are going to be among those in the bidding for Sproles.
In other words, if the Chiefs are interested in either of these players, they better be ready to pay for 'em.
