Chiefs Hire Cap Specialist Trip MacCracken

I've been hearing that the Kansas City Chiefs have hired a salary cap specialist but have yet to identify the man.

Andy Simms, sports agent for PlayersRep Sports, tells us it's Trip MacCracken.  Simms, via Twitter, calls him "one of the best in the business."

(Ed. Note: I've also learned that his title will be Director of Football Administration.)

As we enter the new league year in what is almost assuredly an uncapped year, understanding the salary cap, or lack thereof, will be absolutely crucial to success.

MacCracken was most recently with the Cleveland Browns. From what I can gather, he was replaced in 2009 by Dawn Aponte, formerly of the league office. His website profile lists him simply as "legal counsel" and it's been reported that he worked with Aponte.

As many of you know, on March 5th we'll enter an uncapped year and an array of rule changes will take place.
