Other than quarterback, possibly the most difficult position to fill in the NFL is nose tackle. There are very, very few 6'2"+, 320+ pound players that are capable of withstanding the punishment and endurance necessary to play the position in a 3-4 defense.
That's being demonstrated in the use of the franchise tag this season. The following players have been -- or will likely receive -- the franchise tag:
All 3-4 teams. All nose tackles. Think teams value nose tackles?
What this means for the Chiefs is that going forward their best and perhaps only shot at a long-term solution to the nose tackle problem is the draft.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, there are usually only a handful (at the most) of these types of players available in each class.
