The LaDainain Tomlinson era is over in San Diego, according to ESPN's John Clayton.
The San Diego Chargers released halfback LaDainian Tomlinson Monday afternoon, according to a source.
Tomlinson played nine seasons in San Diego, but at the age of 30 and with declining numbers, Tomlinson has been anticipating his release for the past month.

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star recently laid out the reasons LT in KC could be a possibility. The Chiefs are expected to at least kick the tires of some running backs in free agency and/or the upcoming NFL draft.
Teicher says that LT could take some pressure off of Jamaal Charles, who is still a question mark when it comes to handling the full rushing load for an entire season.
Me? I wouldn't be too interested. We've already gone through one GM who liked to ink big names on the tail end of their careers and it didn't get us very far.
There is one thing to be excited about -- the Chiefs will no longer have to face one of the greatest running backs the NFL has ever seen.
