A Couple Of Cardinals Could Draw Chiefs Interest

We've learned over the last year that sometimes in the NFL it's who you know and not what you know. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli seemed to take a liking to former Patriots and head coach Todd Haley appeared to keep his eye on a few former Cardinals.

Today there's word out of Arizona that one prominent member of the secondary could be on his way out and another will be a restricted free agent.

Antrel Rolle could be released

Rolle is due about $12 million in 2010 and approximately $4 million of that comes in the form of a bonus due next week. Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com expects the team to part ways with Rolle in order to avoid paying that bonus.

It's assumed that Rolle is interested in staying but it would be surprising if the Cardinals kept him on with $12 million due to him. They've been talking long-term contract but haven't made significant progress, Urban reports.

The Dolphins have been a rumored landing spot for Rolle should he get released. He's from The U and the Dolphins could need his services.

The Chiefs have Jarrad Page and Jon McGraw manning the free safety spot. Page ended the season on IR and is set to become a restricted free agent.

Steve Breaston likely to get a first round tender

The Chiefs have a perceived need at the receiver position and, depending on the status of Chris Chambers, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent, could be in the market.

Breaston, Haley's former receiver in Arizona and a restricted free agent, is expected to receive a first round tender. At that price, the Chiefs likely wouldn't be interested.

However, if the Cardinals are willing to take less, I could imagine Haley and the Chiefs would be curious to see what his market value is.
