Somehow I missed this last week but our own WTexKC brought it up in the FanShots. We know now the names of two more players the Kansas City Chiefs talked with at the Senior Bowl.
According to the Kansas City Star (on February 4th), cornerbacks Devin McCourty of Rutgers and Akwasi Owusa-Ansah of Indiana of Pennsylvania met with the Chiefs at the Senior Bowl several weeks ago.
Both players will be drafted in the later rounds and can return kicks.
The Chiefs also talked with Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard at the Senior Bowl, which we mentioned in January. He was down in South Florida for the Super Bowl and made the rounds on Radio Row.
"I spoke with about 20 teams at the Senior Bowl, and the Chiefs were one of them," Gilyard said. "They told me they had an interest in my return ability and the way I’m versatile. If Kansas City picks me, I’ll be a Chief and enjoy wearing red (his college colors)."
These are three players who fit the bill of a kick returner.
Sounds like the Chiefs will make a point of upgrading that area in the draft.
