You know what I like about this team?
The Kansas City Chiefs have shown they can play -- and win -- any type of game you want.
The last three weeks the Chiefs put up 29, 31 and 42 points for a combined total of 102. On Sunday, they put up just 10....and still won.
Jamaal Charles and Brian Waters both said the defense bailed them out on Sunday. Indeed, the defense was in fine form as they held the Broncos to the least amount of points -- six -- since 1971. Almost 40 years!
Romeo Crennel has clearly demonstrated that he won't let this team get beat the same way twice. That's the sign of a smart coaching staff, and that includes the offensive side who made a smart call giving Charles more carries (21) than Jones (11) after some of Charles' past success against these guys.
In some ways, this was a more satisfying win than the previous two which involved a lot more offense. The Chiefs didn't score any second half points but the defense held Kyle Orton to a miserable 9-of-28 for 117 yards.
Eric Berry said after the game that the veteran guys in the locker room have been telling them this is when it really starts. Andy Studebaker said you win in December to play in January.
As they say, this is what December games are all about. Todd Haley said the cold, blustery day was "great", a nod to his days growing up in the Pittsburgh area. In some strange way, I'm more confident in this team watching them slug out a low-scoring division victory in December than I am in a 42-point offensive blowout in November.
I don't have to say this because I know you're all right there with me but...I've got a good feeling about this team.
