The Kansas City Chiefs won their third game in a row and their eighth on the season with a 10-6 win over the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium today. It was a game that should have been more like 17-6 Chiefs, or 24-6 Chiefs. Penalties specifically killed big plays for KC.
Joel is currently doing the post-game thing at Arrowhead so here are some random thoughts of mine. We'll be touching on all of these later:
Barry Richardson striking a Chiefs' coach. In the first half, RT Barry Richardson was called for a false start on the goal line; subbed out of the game; and struck (sort of a hard one-handed push) special teams coach Steve Hoffman. Richardson was mad about being pulled from the game but his behavior was no excuse. I really want to see a fine on this one.
Todd Haley and Josh McDaniels' hug. The two head coaches not only shook hands after the game, they hugged. Although DT Shaun Smith was clearly the first Chief to shake McDaniels' hand, which I think was intentional on Smith's part.
In control in the AFC West. Oakland and San Diego are playing now. The Chargers are 6-5 and the Chiefs are 8-4. With a game against the Chargers next week, a San Diego loss today would really, really, help the Chiefs seal the division title.
We'll have much more to come. Your initial post game thoughts?
