Kansas City Chiefs OT Barry Richardson Fined $7,500

Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Barry Richardson spent last Sunday on the left side of the line with Branden Albert recovering from an injury. At times, things didn't appear to be going so well.

It's going to get a little worse for him. A league spokesman confirms to us Richardson has been fined $7,500 for an illegal clip against the Seattle Seahawks last week. Brian McIntyre of Mac's Football Blog (maybe the most underrated blog out there) first reported the fine.

The clip came on the Chiefs second drive of the game on a first and 10 from the Seattle 24-yard line. Richardson hit linebacker Aaron Curry with what the league calls an illegal clip. On a run play, Richardson struck him from behind and below the waist.

The play resulted in a 15-yard penalty on the Chiefs.

No word on whether he plans to go the Shaun Smith route and appeal the fine.
