Chiefs Coach Todd Haley On Chris Johnson And Jamaal Charles

On the surface, Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson and Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles are pretty similar. Both are speed guys, put up a solid yards per carry average and represent a threat for big yardage every time they touch it. Of course Chiefs fans will say Chris Johnson is just Jamaal Charles-lite. Chiefs head coach Todd Haley was asked about those two and any similarities he might see.

"There were some clear cut similarities with both Jamaal and Chris," Haley said (via KCChiefs.com). "They're both obviously really fast, they're built similarly, they're explosive, obviously, and quick.

"I would say this guy, Chris Johnson, with what he's done to this point in his career obviously there are so few that have ever hit that 2,000 yard mark to begin with. But they both have good hands and can do a lot of things for you so, like I said, defensively, we'll have our hands full. If you let him get going, you'll be in for a long day."

Of course the same goes for the Titans -- if they let Jamaal Charles get going, they're in for a long day.

Haley said they were looking for a running back while he was in Arizona the year Johnson and Charles came out (they ended up with Tim Hightower). He revised history a little when he asked how he had them rated coming out of college.

"Yes, I had them one and two of all the backs that year," he said laughing.
