Chiefs Can Claim AFC West Title On Sunday, But It's Unlikely

The NFL playoff picture is forming and believe it or not the Kansas City Chiefs can win the division on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The Chiefs play the Titans in the early game on Sunday and if they beat or tie the Titans, they'll be watching the San Diego Chargers play the Cincinnati Bengals in the late games.

A Chiefs tie or victory on Sunday, combined with a Chargers loss, would give the Chiefs more than a one-game lead over the Chargers and Raiders with one-game left to play. In other words, the Chiefs would win the division. That's unlikely to happen though as the Chargers are seven point road favorites over the Bengals.

A Chiefs and Chargers victory this weekend, puts the pressure back on the Chiefs to beat the Oakland Raiders in Week 17 and keep San Diego out.

A Chiefs and Chargers loss suddenly brings Oakland back into the picture. The Raiders are down two games to the Chiefs and one game to the Chargers so if the Chiefs and Chargers lose this weekend, Oakland would then need to beat the Chiefs in Week 17 to tie for the division lead with the tiebreaker in hand.

Say what you want about Oakland but they know how to win in the division. In fact, they're undefeated at 5-0 having swept both the Broncos and Chargers, and stand one game up on the Chiefs.

In review, Chiefs win + Chargers loss = AFC West crown.
