Chiefs' Offense Gets Going; Lead Rams 14-6 As Half Nears

That second quarter was a pleasant surprise, wasn't it?

The Kansas City Chiefs were down two field goals to the St. Louis Rams for much of the first half of today's game. The Rams' offense was calmly gaining yards and first downs against the Chiefs while KC's offense was simultaneously ineffective.

But that changed in the second quarter. A deep pass to Dwayne Bowe set up a Matt Cassel to Leonard Pope touchdown pass. Another great drive near the end of the half resulted in a Jamaal Charles' touchdown run.

Matt Cassel has taken some hits this afternoon but has played quite well. He took a hard hit on a near-first down run, threw a funny pass after that but seems to have bounced back.

Penalties are really helping the Kansas City Chiefs and really hurting the St. Louis Rams. It's clear we're playing a young team, who is intimidated by a strong opponent fan presence in their home field.

After a slow start, the Kansas City Chiefs have picked it up. It's 14-6 in favor of Kansas City and the Chiefs are firmly in control of this game.
