Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel is active for today's game against the St. Louis Rams. But will he play?
Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reports that Cassel was on the field doing some warmups but he "doesn't have the look of a guy getting ready to play." Bob Gretz of BobGretz.com also has some notes on Cassel's pregame activity.
It's possible the Chiefs keep Cassel active as a backup quarterback in the instance something happens to QB Brodie Croyle. It's also possible Cassel is active and will be the starter. We'll find that out at noon when the game starts.
If Cassel is not playing today, the Chiefs will turn to backup QB Brodie Croyle for the second consecutive week. Last week against the San Diego Chargers, Croyle completed just 7-of-17 passes for 40 yards. He didn't turn the ball over but, as the numbers show, that's about all he did.
The Chiefs enter the arena of a "must-win" as the Chargers beat the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. A Chiefs loss puts them into a tie with the Chargers in first place in the AFC West where San Diego has the early advantage in tiebreakers.
Here are the rest of the inactives from Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com: CB Mike Richardson, S Ricky Price, FB Mike Cox, S Reshard Langford, LB Charlie Anderson, C Rudy Niswanger, NT Anthony Toribio and QB Tyler Palko (third QB).
