The Kansas City Chiefs took to the practice field this Thursday and thankfully all 61 players were able to take part in today's practice. The player getting the most attention is of course Matt Cassel.
Via Bob Gretz, we have word that Cassel did indeed practice, passing with some good velocity in few drills. However, it still appears that the quarterback's status for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams is still up in the air. Gretz says that Cassel was obviously minimizing his chest movement, both in stretches and in drills:
His footwork was loose and he really seemed to be trying to throw without involving his lower torso. That's not a good sign.
Alan Shope, a KCTV 5 photojournalist attending practice, said that Cassel appeared to be day to day.
The good: Cassel is practicing. The bad: He's obviously not 100%. Will he be able to play by Sunday? We're not sure. My gut says yes, since the Chiefs still have four days until game day. More than likely, today's injury report will again feature only one Chief - Matt Cassel - and it will again probably only say he was limited in practice.
The waiting/healing game continues.
