The Kansas City Chiefs gave up a season-high 207 rushing yards on Sunday in a 31-0 blowout loss to the San Diego Chargers. One of the positives (only positive?) from the game was safety Eric Berry tiptoeing the sidelines to snag his third career interception. Berry's previous two interceptions resulted in him being nominated for the NFL rookie of the week. This one does not gain him a nomination.
Instead we see Chargers RB Ryan Mathews receiving a nomination for the award after he put up 65 yards on 16 carries including one touchdown against the Chiefs.
Here are the other candidates (including Arthur Moats who ended Brett Favre's consecutive games streak last week): Wide receiver Arrelious Benn of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tight end Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots, quarterback John Skelton of the Arizona Cardinals and linebacker Arthur Moats of the Buffalo Bills.
We'll wait another week to see if Berry can finally win one of these. He's been nominated four times.
Go to NFL.com to vote for the rookie of the week but I can imagine who Chiefs fans won't be voting for.
