We'll gain some clarity in the NFL playoff picture, specifically the AFC West, in Week 14. The AFC West schedule includes, of course, the Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers, as well as the Oakland Raiders vs. Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos vs. Arizona Cardinals.
Chiefs-Chargers is the big one of course. A Chiefs victory places them as the favorite to win the AFC West and officially knocks the Chargers out of contention to win the division. The Chargers would still hold a slim chance at a wildcard if they lost. A Chargers victory opens the division right back up and Kansas City would be forced to win the final three games to assure themselves of a division title.
Raiders-Jaguars also has divisional implications as the Raiders, like the Chargers, stand two games behind the Chiefs. An Oakland victory keeps them in the hunt while a loss would severely hurt their chances of winning the division.
Broncos-Cardinals has no playoff implications in the AFC.
The best case scenario for the Chiefs is a victory plus a Raider loss. That means they could clinch the division next week in St. Louis. Yes, the Chiefs could have a shot to clinch the division in Week 15.
We'll find out a lot more about this division by Sunday evening. Either the Chiefs are on their way to wrapping this thing up or things are about to get a lot more interesting.
