Well, it's official. Matt Cassel is doubtful for Sunday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers. That means that while the door isn't completely shut, it's about as close as it gets.
The Chiefs website says the definition of doubtful is a 25 percent chance of playing. You can probably cross him out anyway -- he's not going to play unless the Chiefs make a late change to the injury report.
This means that the preparation Brodie Croyle has been going through all week will actually mean something. You can expect him to start.
The Chiefs have been trying to simulate game conditions for Croyle this week by filtering in crowd noise -- wait, Chargers fans are loud? -- and setting up a play clock.
Croyle last started on Sept. 13, 2009 in a 38-24 loss to the Ravens. Croyle completed 16-of-24 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
