KC Chiefs Bring Back CB Mike Richardson; Release LB Justin Cole

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that they have signed CB Mike Richardson, who was with the club in 2009 and 2010 training camp. The Chiefs released Richardson on Sept. 3 of this year prior to the final cut down day before the season. He has KC connections all over the place including his entry into the league with Scott Pioli and the New England Patriots and his college career at Notre Dame under Charlie Weis.

The Chiefs also announced the release of LB Justin Cole, who was an undrafted free agent with the Chiefs this year. He wasn't active in any games this year so his presence will only be missed on the practice field.

Bringing in a cornerback brings up an obvious question: Is Brandon Flowers OK?

The Chiefs cornerback was injured against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11 and did not play in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs had a combination of players replace him including Jackie Bates, Travis Daniels and Javier Arenas.

Signing a cornerback does make you think Flowers could be out another week -- or more. The Chiefs will conduct practice today and we'll find out a little later what Flowers' status is. If he can't go, it will bring up memories of the Chiefs and Broncos first game in which KC was missing two players in the secondary -- Kendrick Lewis and Jon McGraw. The result was...well, not pretty.

The Chiefs also reportedly worked out free agent CB Tye Hill after Flowers' injury.
