NFL Odds Say Chiefs vs. Broncos Will Be Very Close

The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos meet on Sunday and if you're to believe the oddsmakers it will be a close one. The line goes from pick 'em to 2.5 in favor of the Chiefs. If you can find someone favoring the Broncos, it may not be a bad bet to go with the Chiefs (like I'm the best person for gambling advice...).

The Chiefs, in my opinion, are better than the Broncos. But there's that pesky place called [Insert whatever corporate name they're using this year] Field. Most of us know it as Mile High.

The Chiefs last year broke an eight-year long streak of losing in Denver. From 2001-08, the Chiefs at Denver every year and only three of those years were they able to keep it within one score. The Broncos owned the Chiefs in Denver until last year's season finale when KC put an old-fashioned whoopin' on the Broncos.

As I said, I do think the Chiefs are the better team and Denver isn't exactly scaring anyone with their 1-3 home record. But we know how these games always go in Denver. It's rarely easy -- 2009's 44-24 beat down is the exception, not the rule -- and the Chiefs have won just five there since 1994.

We'll see how this one ends up but I think Vegas has it right with a 1-2 point line. I could easily see this being a 20-19 type of game. Don't pay much attention to the 59-14 score in the Broncos-Raiders game a few weeks ago. The Broncos know this is a rivalry game, and the Chiefs players do, too, so it won't be easy by any means. The Chiefs players would be making a mistake by thinking otherwise.
