Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry has been nominated for the NFL's rookie of the week award for the third consecutive week. The Chiefs rookies have been all over the rookie of the week nominations this season.
Week 1 (WR Dexter McCluster), Week 3 (TE Tony Moeaki), Week 7 (Berry), Week 8 (Berry) and Week 9 (Berry). Only McCluster and Moeaki have won the award so we'll see if Berry can eke one out.
Berry had four tackles and his first two career sacks on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. He's had an interception in each of the two games prior to that.
Also up for the award? The Raiders' Jacoby Ford. He had 148 yards receiving and a return TD so I figure he runs away with one.
Here's what they're saying about the rest of the candidates:
Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy: McCoy led the Browns to a 34-14 win over the New England Patriots, completing 14 of 19 passes for 174 yards and adding three rushes for 20 yards and one touchdown.
San Diego Chargers WR Seyi Ajirotutu: Ajirotutu made four catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' 29-23 win over the Houston Texans.
Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford: Ford had six receptions for 148 yards, including key catches in the game-tying drive at the end of regulation and the game-winning OT drive in the Raiders' 23-20 victory over the Chiefs.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams: Williams had four receptions for 89 yards with one touchdown in the Buccaneers' 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
