Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is taking home some hardware.
The NFL announced Charles was the Week 8 winner of the FedEx Ground Player Of The Week. It comes on the heels of his 22-carry, 177-yard performance in the Chiefs victory over the Buffalo Bills. (Since this is the Ground award, they don't mention he had another 61 receiving).
Other candidates included New England Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis and San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore.
The Chiefs have had someone nominated for this award for two consecutive weeks, as have the Oakland Raiders. QB Jason Campbell won this week for his two-TD, 310-yard performance last week. RB Darren McFadden won the week prior.
$2,000 will be donated the Safe Kids USA coalition in Kansas City to support pedestrian safety improvements.
You think KC gets another award winner after Sunday's game? I'm thinking Charles has a shot at this again in Week 9.
