The Chiefs Enter Week 8 Ranked In The Top Ten Of A Lot Of Categories

We've been hearing bits and pieces here about how the Kansas City Chiefs' rush defense and of course rush offense is ranked really well relative to the rest of the NFL. As I'm sure many of you are aware, the Chiefs are pretty good in a lot of other areas too. After last night's Monday Night Football game, Week 7 is over and Week 8 has begun with the Chiefs ranked very well in a lot of important categories, both offensively and defensively.

Right now, the Chiefs are ranked in the top ten of the NFL in the following defensive categories:

  • Rushing yards (6);
  • First downs a game (10);
  • Kickoff return average (2);
  • Opponent third down percentage (9); and,
  • Points allowed per game (7).

The pass defense is pretty sorry when you look at the rankings but I really like seeing the Chiefs' defense ranked so highly, especially in third down percentage and points allowed per game.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Chiefs' rushing game is obviously their strength but the team is still ranked in the top ten of a number of offensive categories:

  • Yards per play (9);
  • Rushing yards (1);
  • INT rate (6);
  • Sacks allowed (2);
  • Punt return average (3); and,
  • Points per game (8t).
With the power rankings coming out today, is this a top ten team in the NFL? Even after looking at some of these impressive rankings through six games, I still think the Chiefs are on the cusp of the top ten in the league.
