- Chiefs head coach Todd Haley graduated from the University of North Florida and received that school's 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award.
- Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio played two seasons as a linebacker with Kansas City ('87-88).
- Jacksonville T Jordan Black (2003-06) and CB Tyron Brackenridge (2007-08) both played with Kansas City.
- Chiefs HOF inductee Deron Cherry is a member of the Jaguars ownership group. Cherry earned six Pro Bowl berths as a safety with Kansas City.
- Jacksonville off. coord. Dirk Koetter coached at Missouri ('89-93).
- Jaguars assistant strength and conditioning coach Jason George coached at Kansas ('97-98).
- Jacksonville strength and conditioning coach Luke Richesson played football at Kansas ('92-96).
- Chiefs GM Scott Pioli ('83-87) and Jaguars athletic trainer Mike Ryan ('82-85) were both student-athletes at Central Connecticut State.
- Jaguars DL Jeremy Mincey played collegiately at Butler County (KS) CC.
- Jacksonville DL C.J. Mosely played collegiately at Missouri.
- Kansas City C Casey Wiegmann as well as Jacksonville DE Aaron Kampman and C Brad Meester all prepped at Aplington-Parkersburg (IA) High School for the late Ed Thomas, who was named the NFL's High School Coach of Year in 2005.
