Kirk Ferentz Not Surprised By Tony Moeaki's Fast Start

New, comments

As most of you know, Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli considers Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz among his personal friends so you would think he'd have the scoop on all the Iowa players.

Ferentz talked on Tuesday about one of his former players that's been in the news lately, Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki.

I told people he had a funky stance and doesn’t look good in shorts, but when you put pads on, the guy is a legit player. People had a hard time getting beyond that and Tony's injuries (grunts).

Pioli also recently talked about heading to Iowa to take in a practice. Ferentz and Pioil describe Moeaki in similar ways pointing out his football intelligence.

Ferentz says he's not surprised by the success Moeaki is having.

I am not going to say I told you so, but it was obvious that he was a good football player here. Anything he does does not surprise us. It’s fun to see him. They have a good group of young guys and he is part of that equation that has helped them. That is what it takes, and will for them to get going.

Sounds like he wants to say: I told you so.
