We're hearing more NFL trade rumors with the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday afternoon.
Here are a few of the rumors and reports that were floating around this weekend:
- Panthers won't trade WR Steve Smith
- All Raiders players are available
- Chargers WR Vincent Jackson can be traded now as well
- Not hearing anything on Patriots G Logan Mankins, who is an unsigned restricted free agent
The NFL trade deadline isn't always a huge deal because it's not like baseball where you can plug one guy in pretty easily. In football, you'd have a tough time trading for a quarterback and getting a whole lot of use out of him that season. Players can't always just step right in (as you saw last week when WR Randy Moss wasn't in on the Minnesota Vikings two-minute drill late in the game...he didn't know the playbook).
Will the Chiefs make a move? I highly doubt it. I think they know they've got a good thing going and I'm not sure GM Scott Pioli wants to give up draft picks, even late ones. After the early success of the Chiefs 2010 draft class, I'd rather Pioli have his hand at picking a player next April, even a 5th or 7th round pick, versus a fringe starter.
