Haley: Weis Would Be a Good Fit With The Chiefs Offense

No decisions have been made regarding the potential hiring of an offensive coordinator according to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley. However, that doesn't mean some "progress" is being made.

Judging by Haley's comments today, Charlie Weis appears to be the front runner to get the job of offensive coordinator.

Haley told reporters this afternoon that "fit" is one of the most important aspects of assembling a coaching staff.

So, how does Charlie Weis fit into the offense Haley installed this season?

"He's a coach that system wise, we're as close as you can be," Haley says. "It is the same system."

Before the season, Haley found running his offense important enough to terminate Chan Gailey. So, finding someone now that fits his way is paramount to anything else.

Haley wouldn't directly answer the question of whether he's spoken with Weis about joining the Chiefs. "Private conversations are private," he says.

"I will do everything I can to get the best, bright football minds in a position to help us. Charlie is a bright football mind that I have first hand experience with.

"He would be a guy that I would consider."

Sounds like a matter of time if you ask me.
