Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles Emerges as a First Round Fantasy Back

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles took not only Kansas City by surprise with his breakout second-half performance this season, but also the fantasy football world.

Charles' numbers through the second half of the season are impressive - 968 yards and eight total touchdowns. Translate that to a full season and you're looking at Chris Johnson-esque numbers - 1,936 yards and 16 touchdowns.

FanHouse.com continues with this theme and proclaims Jamaal Charles a first rounder in the next cycle of fantasy football drafts.

"Think about it, what running backs would you definitely rather have than Charles?

"Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, Frank Gore and Steven Jackson. Probably. Honestly, I could make an argument to take Charles after the top three (Johnson, Peterson and MJD).

"Anyone else and it's definitely worth discussing Charles over him. Thomas Jones? Age concerns and Shonn Greene getting a bigger role. The Dolphins and Panthers have time-share situations. Michael Turner is inconsistent. Cedric Benson, Ryan Grant and Rashard Mendenhall are a step behind."

Set those fantasy rosters for next season. It may be worth taking a Chief in 2010.
