OL Mike Iupati Talks About Moving to Left Tackle

Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com talked to Idaho G Mike Iupati following the first Senior Bowl practice of the week.

Iupati is a highly rated guard, which will draw enough attention because that's an area of need for the Chiefs. In addition to that, he's versatile, even suggesting he could play left tackle in the NFL.

"Left tackle would be fine for me because I'm very dominant on my right side," he told Looney. "Kick me to the left side and it would be a lot of fun. I could invite them to the inside and hit 'em. I'm pretty much versatile."

(Side note: Considering the difference in pay between a LT and a G, I'm not surprised he would be okay with the move.)

Our own Mocking the Draft expressed some concern over the level of competition Iupati faced in the WAC. It's certainly not a deal breaker, but playing against anything other than the highest of competition will illicit concerns as to how a player's game will translate.

"The guy is right next to me and just jumps the ball and it's like, 'Wow'. You have to get used to the speed and the level of competition, but it's going to be fun."

Expect to hear his name quite often over the coming months.
