Despite multiple reports that Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was expected to be available, head coach Josh McDaniels ruled his star receiver out for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
This is certainly disheartening news for Broncos fans but for fans of the red and gold, it's outstanding news. Just how big? Check out Marshall's last five games against the Chiefs:
Rec. | Yards | TD |
6 | 85 | 0 |
10 | 115 | 2 |
7 | 77 | 1 |
11 | 91 | 2 |
7 | 94 | 1 |
Pretty staggering numbers.
The Broncos have quite a few scenarios to get into the playoffs and all but one of them require a victory against the Chiefs.
Update 12:35 PM: Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes that McDaniels says this is an accountability issue, not just an injury issue. "Coach’s decision. McDaniels indicated Marshall doesn’t want to play with slight hamstring pull." Frank Schwartz of the Colorado Springs-Gazette says Marshall is "hurt" and McDaniels indicated others are playing through injuries on Sunday, and Marshall is not. This is intriguing news for Chiefs fans because we want to see Marshall out of the AFC West as quickly as possible.
