It's time to face reality. The Kansas City Chiefs may start 0-7 and not record it's first victory until November.
Seriously.
Here's the next five weeks:
- Week Three: At Eagles
- Week Four: Giants
- Week Five: Cowboys
- Week Six: At Redskins
- Week Seven: Chargers
Anyone else feel confident that we can beat a NFC East team or the Chargers? Not me and likely not the oddsmakers. The Chiefs will be underdogs in all those games.
Of course, anything can happen any given Sunday, as the Chiefs showed with two one-point losses to the Chargers last year. But this team has won six of it's last 34 games - "any given Sunday" isn't happening very often.
This was the Chiefs best, and possibly only, opportunity to win in the first half of the schedule.
I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom here but the odds are against the Chiefs recording a victory before visits to Jacksonville (11/8) and Oakland (11/15). We knew the first half of the schedule was brutal and that there was a chance we only win one game in the first eight.
After watching this team, the consistently inconsistent Chiefs, 0-for-September and 0-for-October doesn't seem like a possibility, but a probability.
