Chiefs, Vikings Suddenly a Hot Ticket

A few weeks ago, amidst the hub-bub that the Kansas City Chiefs were requiring fans to buy additional tickets to a preseason game if they were wishing to see two of the marquee games on the schedule (Cowboys and Steelers), I talked about the Minnesota Vikings doing the same thing.

In order for fans to see the Packers come to town on October 5th, the Vikings brass was requiring fans to buy tickets to the Chiefs preseason game in Minnesota because, well, a team that has trouble selling out playoff games wouldn't stand a chance to sell out a preseason game against a six-wins-two-seasons team like the Chiefs.

That was six weeks ago.  Now, the Vikings hosting the Chiefs on Friday night is the hottest ticket in town.

PFT cites a reader that says tickets are going for nearly three times face value.  Wow.

There's been a thought around here that the Chiefs, Vikings game should be broadcast live on NFL Network.  As of now, a three part, three hour series called "Making the Squad" is scheduled during Friday night's game.  A repeat of the game is scheduled for 10 PM CST on Friday night.

I couldn't tell you NFLN's policy of moving games around but from the outside looking in, moving the coverage time wouldn't appear to be a problem since they wouldn't be pulling the plug on any other previously scheduled live programming.

Head coach Todd Haley will speak with the media following today's 2-4PM practice so we can expect someone out there to ask about the possibility of playing against Favre and get Haley's reaction.
