Joel Collier was named the Chiefs' Assistant General Manager today. |
Courtesy of the mothership, the Kansas City Chiefs have finalized their player personnel and operations positions.
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday that the club has completed its player personnel and football operations staff. Joel Collier has been named the Assistant General Manager, while Dom Green and Ryan Kessenich have been added as area scouts. Chris Caminiti has also joined the club as the Manager of Football Operations.
These individuals join Phil Emery (Director of College Scouting), Ray Farmer (Director of Pro Personnel) and Jim Nagy (regional scout) in the player personnel and football operations area. In addition to Green and Kessenich, the club’s roster of area scouts also includes Willie Davis, Terry Delp, Jay Muraco, Rod Perry, Jr. and Pat Sperduto.
These positions are in addition to the hires made in the table above. Back in March, the Chiefs finalized all of the coaching positions except for Joel Collier, who is now the Assistant General Manager. There was some speculation that Collier could be a special teams coach but that honor went to Steve Hoffman. Collier's resume makes him well-suited to the position of Assistant General Manager. He has experience coaching on both sides of the ball as well as personnel experience.
Dom Green and Ryan Kessenich are two names that you're not likely to hear ever again, considering the area scout position isn't exactly high profile. Chris Caminiti is another name that won't come up but it's still good to know who the staff is.
Where are the Pioli/Haley/Parcells connections? Kessenich and Green's connections aren't quite clear at the moment but Caminiti is a classic "new" Chiefs hire.
Chris Caminiti began his NFL career as the Director of Football Operations with New England from 2002 to 2004. He worked there with Chiefs GM Scott Pioli. Romeo Crennel, the former head coach of the Cleveland Browns (2005-08), worked with Caminiti in Cleveland during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Crennel has a long history with Scott Pioli.
We'll have some OTA updates coming for you soon too so check back. For now, please commence the Assistant to the General Manager jokes.
