This is exactly what the Kansas City Chiefs wanted.

Statement from Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen:

"Numerous attempts to contact Jay Cutler in the last 10 days, both by Head Coach Josh McDaniels and myself, have been unsuccessful. A conversation with his agent earlier today clearly communicated and confirmed to us that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos. We will begin discussions with other teams in an effort to accommodate his request to be traded."

Could this offseason get much better for the Chiefs?

The Detroit Lions could play a key part in this possible transaction.  They hold two first round picks and are one of the few teams with the ammo to match any demand from the Broncos.

The Broncos moving their young, star quarterback opens another door for the Chiefs in the 2009 season.  Say what you want about Jay Cutler, but it's unlikely the Broncos will be able to receive in a trade an equal value.

Good quarterbacks just don't come along that often and Cutler is one of those quarterbacks.  Denver is making a huge mistake and the Chiefs will benefit.

The guys over at Mile High Report are getting a bit worked up, so make sure you check that out too.

H/T to Western Chief, camucr and Shawn.
