Offseason Blueprint: Volume 1

First off I wanted to start by saying that I am new to the site and this is my first post on arrowheadpride.com. I think the site is great and love reading the thoughts and ideas of my fellow Chiefs fans. I love the Chiefs and cannot wait until the season begins even though this past season just ended. I know we need a lot of help in a lot of areas but I truly believe we can compete in 2009. Because the AFC West is weak, with the right offseason moves and draft choices, we can win the division. I think we need to go out and sign three free agents in particular. They are: Crowder, Brown, and Scott. If we can accomplish this, we will have 3 very good linebackers for the 3-4(including DJ) and the entire left side of the o-line through the center will be great. These FA's will provide great value and we won't have to break the bank to get them. This would also give us a lot of flexability in the draft. In a perfect world, we would be able to trade back and acquire more picks in the draft, but that is a long shot and a whole different topic that I will not get into right now. I am also not going to predict in this post exactly who we will pick in each round. As much as I would love to have Crabtree, other needs are more important. Assuming we are stuck picking at #3, we should go with Curry or Monroe. Its just a matter of whether the front office wants to complete the O-line or linebackers first. Its really a crapshoot because we can always grab a sold LB or O-Lineman in later rounds. From round 2 through seven, we need to just grab the best player available at our slot. If Pioli, Haley, and the scouts can do there jobs and find the best football players as they said in the recent press conferences, we will be alright. All of our young players have a lot of playing experience from last year and hopefully they have built some confidence and have the hunger and desire it takes to ring the Chiefs back to the upper eschelon of the NFL. Any thoughts??
