After the Broncos game last week, head coach Josh McDaniels expressed some frustration at the play of their punter, Mitch Berger. Then the Broncos signed Britton Colquitt off the Dolphins practice squad fueling speculation that Berger would be cut, and Colquitt would come in, setting up a (Dustin) Colquitt vs. (Britton) Colquitt game.
Well, maybe not.
Today, McDaniels said, "Berger's still punting."
It appears the Broncos wanted to set themselves up for next season and nabbed Britton Colquitt now.
"We never stop trying to improve the team or look as we move forward," McDaniels said.
According to older brother Dustin, "It's going to be cool."
"Right now he said they’re just getting him on the active roster for next year," Dustin said. "I don’t know if he is going to punt this week or not. I know that they brought him up from Miami’s practice squad so they can have him for next season."
So the Colquitt vs. Colquitt match may be put off until next season.
