We didn't delve into this topic a whole lot but following the news that the Kansas City Chiefs had successfully claimed San Diego Chargers WR Chris Chambers, the player told newspapers that he believed his off-the-field problems had factored into his release.
The team did not confirm that.
As Chambers continues his way to a fresh start with the Chiefs, a woman who was behind much of the off-the-field controversy has been charged by police.
John Wilkens of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports:
"In the court papers, Chambers acknowledged having an affair with Saunders. The request for a restraining order was dropped when neither Chambers nor Saunders showed up for a hearing in late June. A week later, Chambers filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
"Levikow said the District Attorney’s stalking unit investigated the case and decided to file the charges. The 11 counts accuse Saunders of stalking or harassing by phone on various dates from April through September."
Yikes! So Chambers has been playing with a lot on his mind.
Hopefully he will continue to play better (and with a free mind) as his off-the-field past moves further away from him.
