Lanier63 broke this in the FanPost section so thank him for that. Consider this the morning update. We'll be finishing the mock draft today as well! -Chris
It's official. Jared Allen has been traded to the Vikings. We are receiving good compensation though. We will receive their 1st round pick and their 2 3rd round picks. This will give us 6 picks in the first 100. This gives us 13 picks total. Also, the Chiefs and Vikings swapped 6th round picks, #170 #187 for #182.
Allen's contract with Minnesota is reportedly six years for almost $74 million with more than $31 million guaranteed.
Now, would I rather have Allen? Yes, of course. But, let's face it, he didn't want to be here so at least we got a good value in return for him. We have a lot of room to be moving in the draft now.
We can take the guy we want with the #5, probably defense. Then with the #17 overall pick, and few 3rd rounders, we can probably get our hands on a few offensive linemen.
He's been traded. We can't do anything about it. As Chiefs fans, we just have to accept it. It's time to look forward. The draft just got a lot more interesting.
