And with the 22nd pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:
Arkansas RB Felix Jones
primetime with the pick:
The Dallas Cowboys lost Marion Barber III's running mate, Julius Jones, to the Seattle Seahawks and have recognized the need for a replacement. Felix Jones, nicknamed Felix the Cat, is a speedy runner that looks to complement Barber. Jerry Jones openly admitted he was looking to add some "wow" to his offense and Jones is just the man for the job.
Rumors of the 'Boys trading up to nab Jones' college teammate Darren McFadden will not come to fruition. The Cowboys are staying put and addressing their two biggest needs that can be addressed in the first round: RB and CB. They still look to grab a corner with the 28th pick in the draft but are confident that there will be at least one player there that is on their draft board. The advantage to grabbing a RB here instead of a CB is simple: Money. CB is a higher paid position than RB and the cost will be felt with the rookie and 2nd contract of the 28th pick.
Felix Jones will walk into a perfect situation. He backed up McFadden at Arkansas and looks to play alongside Barber in Dallas. The Cowboys understand the importance of a 2-back set as manifested in the success of their own team last year.
Ed. note: Came across this Halloween picture of Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. Did this picture make the rounds at one point? I don't remember it at all. -Chris
