News and Notes from Mini-Camp

(Thanks to snyder52601 for this and many more mini-camp photos)

  • Absences from the camp included Dwayne Bowe (funeral for Marquise Hill) and four NFL Europe players: G Rob Hunt, LB Nick Reid, RB Derrick Ross and G Tre Stallings.

  • I'm still liking Herm Edwards' humor more and more. After safety John McGraw made a sliding INT that was ruled out of bouds, Herm said, "I don't know about that one. He got a whole lot of body in-bounds. I'll have to review that one. I'll look at the tape and tell you tomorrow if you got it right."

  • Still gotta love the local stories. Former Missouri WR Brad Ekwerekwu made a diving 40 yard TD catch. Can we get just one of those in the regular season, please?

  • Kris Wilson is now working exclusively at fullback on the first team offense.

  • Ean Randolph, CB Justin Phinisee and Samie Parker all took turns returning punts from our main man Dustin Colquitt.

  • And here is your Chiefs defensive starting unit (on Saturday anyway): LE Jared Allen, DT Turk McBride, DT Alfonso Boone, RE Tamba Hali, LOLB Derrick Johnson, MLB Napoleon Harris, ROLB Donnie Edwards, LCB Ty Law, RCB Patrick Surtain, FS Jarrad Page and SS Bernard Pollard. Got to say I'm excited.

Its unfortunate we did not get to see Dwayne Bowe this weekend but the funeral of his LSU teammate is obviously much more important. The Chiefs will continue workouts this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Training camp begins on July 27th in Wisconsin. I am more encouraged by nearly every report that comes out about Brodie Croyle. His teammates seem to like him and nearly everything I've heard from them indicates that he is at least ready to attempt to be starting NFL QB. Almost everything I've read mentions the gun on Croyle, which I'm excited to see in real action. Croyle to Bowe? I hope to hear it a lot this season. This could be the start of the Chiefs first homegrown, great QB to WR combo.

Anyone make it out to Arrowhead on Saturday?
