While checking up on the Trent Green saga, I've run across a lot of Miami Dolphin blogs and message boards that have been throwing around the idea of Trent Green as a Dolphin. And I have to tell you, with no empirical evidence behind me, that most Dolphin fans simply do not want Trent Green on their team. An example from Dolphins In Depth:
Add to those long odds the fact Kansas City is standing firm on a desire to get a second-round pick for Green and the whole deal seems simply ridiculous. It is, in fact, outrageous.
You really can't blame the guy for feeling this way. I know his frustration is based on the idea of trading Trent Green for a 2nd round pick, which I think at this point everyone knows will NOT happen. Still, he is one of many voices in Miami who are against Trent Green coming there.
Our very own Phinsider may have put it best when he said:
Its certainly no coincidence that we think sending Trent Green to Miami is a good thing while Dolphin fans are flat out against it. Another example:
Forget Trent Green. Sign David Carr and keep your draft picks.
It's more than just keeping draft picks (the latest reports have the Chiefs asking for a second round pick for Green). It's about upside.
Dolphin fans' reasons for not wanting Trent Green are old age and the fact that he is "prone to injury". I can't tell you how many times I've seen the phrase "injury riddled" in reference to Trent Green on Dolphin sites. This, Dolphin fans, is simply not true. Yes, Trent Green had a nasty concussion last year. But before that, from 2001 to 2005, Trent Green started every game for us.
So Dolphin fans, I understand you do not want Trent Green. And I understand your reasons. They are many and they are valid. But will you please let us unload his huge contract on you?
