Contrary to a late Sunday night report by Adam Teicher, Herm Edwards has not declared a starter against the Bengals.
"We’ll go through practice to see what [Huard] can do. Now, he feels a lot better and he worked out the last two days and he felt ok today. But he hasn’t thrown. We’ll have to see where he’s at throwing the ball and go through our practice schedule like we always go. Brodie [Croyle] will take a lot of the reps as he’s always done. See where Damon’s at and if he can go and he feels good then he’ll go."
Herm went on to say that Damon Huard's arm is sore and that he'll evaluate it as the week goes. The Monday MRI on Huard's shoulder was negative. If Huard can't go, Brodie Croyle will come in in relief.
The Brodie Croyle era is on hold, even if it is just for a day or two. I can't imagine that even if Huard is able to go this week that he lasts through the remaining games of the season. I get the feeling like Huard is a game or two away from taking too many hits. The guy just crumples up under any pressure whatsoever. I wonder what source told the Star on Sunday that Huard had been ruled out for the Bengal game. Hmmm...
