Believe it or not, it is still possible for the Chiefs to make the playoffs. First, we have to win out. That is a no brainer. If we win out, then that means we would own the tie breaker with the Jaguars (via head-to-head record on 12/31) and the Broncos (via better division record). Along with that, we would need the Jets to lose one more game because they have a better conference record than us. This isn't unlikely at all--I've been waiting all season for the Jets to get real and realize they are not a playoff caliber team. Or we would need the Bengals to lose two out of three which is very possible with their schedule (at Indy, at Denver, Pit).
Of course this is all contingent on the Chiefs winning out which includes a road victory at San Diego this coming Sunday night. Is it possible? Well anything is possible, especially considering that San Diego has already wrapped up the division and is only playing for homefield. The Chiefs' best hope is that the Chargers are worn out from their shoot-out with the Broncos last week and LT loses some motivation after already breaking the TD record. If we can beat San Diego, then we wouldn't need any more motivation the rest of the season. We would face a tough Oakland defense at their place and end the season against Jacksonville at Arrowhead with a possible playoff spot on the line.
