Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #35 by the Kansas City Chiefs

And with the 35th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select:

Kansas State WR Jordy Nelson

Draft Profile

Tom Bahali with the pick:

With Kansas City needing an O lineman desperately they go with WR, why? Because all the OT on the board are not worth an early 2nd round pick. Jordy combined with Bowe give the Chiefs 2 large playmakers along with Tony G for Brodie to throw to. There will still be quality tackles available in round 3, probably most of the same that are available now.

1. Miami Dolphins - QB Matt Ryan
2. St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long
3. Atlanta Falcons - DT Glenn Dorsey
4. Oakland Raiders - DE Chris Long
5. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Sedrick Ellis
6. New York Jets - RB Darren McFadden
7. New England Patriots - DL Vernon Gholston
8. Baltimore Ravens - OT Ryan Clady
9. Cincinnati Bengals - OLB Keith Rivers
10. New Orleans Saints - CB Mike Jenkins
11. Buffalo Bills - CB Leodis McKelvin
12. Denver Broncos - OT Chris Williams
13. Carolina Panthers - DE Derrick Harvey
14. Chicago Bears - RB Rashard Mendenhall
15. Detroit Lions - OT Jeff Otah
16. Arizona Cardinals - CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
17. Minnesota Vikings - DE Philip Merling
18. Houston Texans - OG Branden Albert
19. Philadelphia Eagles - FS Kenny Phillips
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WR/RS DeSean Jackson
21. Washington Redskins - WR Limas Sweed
22. Dallas Cowboys - RB Felix Jones
23. Pittsburgh Steelers - OL Gosder Cherilus
24. Tennessee Titans - WR Devin Thomas
25. Seattle Seahawks - WR Malcolm Kelly
26. Jacksonville Jaguars - DE Lawrence Jackson
27. San Diego Chargers - RB Jonathan Stewart
28. Dallas Cowboys - CB Aqib Talib
29. San Francisco 49ers - WR Mario Manningham
30. Green Bay Packers - CB Brandon Flowers
31. New York Giants - LB Jerod Mayo

32. Miami Dolphins - OT Carl Nicks
33. St. Louis Rams - CB Antoine Cason
34. Atlanta Falcons - QB Brian Brohm

Also,
he comes at the cost of passing up on OTs Sam Baker, Anthony Collins, and Duane Brown, not to mention any number of Guards and Centers who could help our porous o-line.  Bad emotional pick.

No way!!!
He is projected as a 2nd round guy on most draft boards around the internet.  Now, I don't think we should be taking him with the 4th pick in the 2nd round, but there is no way he will be around in the 4th round.  I'd feel really lucky if he was there for us in the 3rd.

4th Round? Are you serious?
Sam Baker is the only tackle that will probably be off the board by the next time we pick.  Collins has fallen way down teams draft boards due to him taking plays off. Jordy has the ability to come in from day one and give us a Rod Smith Ed McCaffrey duo.  He is also an above average return man and downfield blocker.  If we didn't take him here he wouldn't have gotten to us in round 3.

No way
Jordy is not 2nd round material.  Bunch of k-snake homers voting.

WTF
Baker would have been the best pick....Nelson would be good if we traded up later but i still think NElson is a great third round pick and a medicore 2nd round pick.....not smart

Nelson is projected as 2nd rounder now
Go to ESPNs draft page and Jordy is the pic for the featured story about draft risers.

He is projected as a day one pick (day one is now only rounds 1 and 2).

still a reach
sorry guys, but there is no way the chiefs pick j nelson with there second pick, especially if baker or any other quality lineman is on the board. If they do, I will not be impressed.

Agree
Bowe, Darling, and Webb may very well be our first 3 WR's next year.

Bad pick
I wonder if Tom Bahali is a Donkeys fan. :)

jimme I will choke you out!
Guys the pick isn't a homer pick at all GO MIZZOU!  I looked at what was available at the OT position and it didn't excite me, Baker is overratted in my eyes and whoever said we should draft an interior lineman should check that list as well.  The quality of lineman will be the same in the 3rd round, so why not grab a guy who fits well into our offense, is a great person, and is a hometown hero.

Baker Was Overrated...
...as a first-round pick, considering the apparent lack of top quality talent at defensive end in the PAC-10 during his time there.  However, he's still been consistently dominant as a starter during his career, USC has a good non-conference schedule every year (so it's not like he's going up against Division II talent in non-conference games), and he's put up great performances working in a pass-heavy offense (so we know he can pass block in a pro-style offense), so he's certainly not a reach as a second-round pick and he'd definitely be an upgrade over what we have now.
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Jordy Nelson Is A Reach...
...as a second-round pick.  If he's available in the third round I think we should seriously consider grabbing him, but only if there are no starting-caliber o-linemen or cornerbacks of comparable grades or major steals (like Talib or Manningham) available.  Don't get me wrong, I like Jordy Nelson a lot and think he'll make some team very happy when they snag him, but our concerns at o-line are so disastrous right now that I'd rather that given the choice between players of comparable grades they focus on the defensive secondary (where Edwards has a good track record of scouting talent) and the line (who generally have longer careers than receivers) before the receiving corps.

If there isn't starting-caliber talent available for OL or CB in the third round, though, I'll be happy if they take Nelson.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
