Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #1 by the Miami Dolphins

And with the #1 overall pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select:

Boston College QB Matt Ryan

Career Stats
Bio

Lanier63 on his pick:

Miami has tried 12 other Quarterbacks since Dan Marino retired. Although Jason Taylor is going to retire probably in the next two years, and the ‘Phins have just released one of their all time best Linebackers in Zach Thomas, Bill Parcells will see the need to rebuild this franchise fresh with whom he thinks will be a franchise quarterback.

On the clock: St. Louis Rams (DThomasReigns)

Note: I already have DThomas Reigns' pick. I'm just spacing the picks out a bit.

That he doesn't think Matt Ryan will go #1 overall but I'm inclined to think this is still a good possibility for the Dolphins. That's what will make these top five that much more interesting though -- no one knows what's going to happen.

The Dolphins are in a similar position as the Chiefs with their QB situation so they'll be interesting to watch as the draft nears.

I should also mention
that King said that he really has no idea who's going where and that a lot of guys will shift ever more before the draft.

This is a solid pick IMO.

Uncharacteristic of Parcells
I see him fixing defense over offense first.

Beck
I know he played a little last year - should the Dolphins treat him like we all think we are going to treat Croyle?  That is, get him some o-line help and some skill players (which thankfully we already have three).  Or will the Fish think "Hey!  We used our second round pick last year for a great backup QB, let's go get the starter."  It will indeed be interesting, especially if Miami keeps the #1 pick.

Big Tuna
Not to mention that Parcells doesn't trust young QBs. I can see him taking a shot at an older veteran it seems like a bad idea to draft QB in the first two rounds for two years in a row.

No Way...
...not with the offensive and defensive lines being the mess they are in Miami.  John Beck wasn't good last year, but he was a rookie so that was to be expected and the jury's still out on him.  And since Ryan threw a lot of interceptions last year (and Parcells HATES interceptions) I think the Dolphins go with a lineman here (defense first, offense second)...either Chris Long, Jake Long, or Glenn Dorsey (if healthy).
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.
