Chiefs sign new LB - I hate Adam Teicher
From the KC Star:
The Chiefs agreed to contract terms with linebacker Demorrio Williams on Saturday night.
The contract is for five years, is worth $16 million and contains $5.5 million in guaranteed money.
Williams, 27, played all four of his NFL seasons with the Falcons. He is a three-year starter at outside linebacker.
Williams will likely join Derrick Johnson in the starting lineup at outside linebacker with Donnie Edwards moving to middle linebacker.
Napoleon Harris will lose his starting spot. The Chiefs signed Harris as a free agent last year to be their starting middle linebacker, but they were disappointed in his play.
Williams was Atlanta's fourth-round draft pick in 2004. He played in college at Nebraska
I can't stand Adam Teicher. You like the part where he says Donnie Edwards is moving to middle LB and Nap Harris is getting benched? Yeah, he made that up. That is what he thinks they should do, but has no evidence to support it or he would say something like "Sources inside the organization believe that" blah blah blah.
Oh and Paul Hackett is the new Chiefs Offensive Coordinator...

This is just crap!
We have 1 player visit and we sign him, good for you , Carl, except that was a position we didn't need to fix immediately.
Maybe we'll get an OL, or CB, or FB, or WR. Way to go, Mr. Guru.

Patience
Let's think about this for a minute. What is the one part of our team that was actually pretty decent last year? The Defense.
Our defense was 2nd in the NFL in red zone defense and kept us in most games. For the past 3 years it has been gradually getting better and better. Short of the CB position and maybe an extra run stuffer for the rotation at DT, our defense should be even better next year as our young guys have one more year of experience under their belt.
The defense in 2008 will be the core of our team and it should be at least in the top 10. It should again be able to keep us in the game long enough to give our embryo of an offense a chance to grow.
I think solidifying our already strong defense to make sure that we will at least have a chance is a very smart move.

Does anyone suspect a 3-4 defense with this...

No
I think we'll probably get another DT in the draft, there are several good ones, and I think Williams is going to end up being Donnie Edwards replacment. Edwards is 35 and I'm doubting he plays more than another year or two.
