Morning Update (Luckiest Fan Edition)

  • WPI has great stuff from Gunther Cunningham. Definitely a must read.

  • Steven at AA gives us another Chiefs Nation endorsement for WVU fullback Owen Schmitt.

  • The Daily Bruin asks a question relevant to all sports in 2008 -- Should we sacrifice class for success?

  • The Jets, who have the sixth pick in the draft, are looking at Sedrick Ellis too.

  • What do you think about a wild card team getting a home game?

  • Former Chief Kimble Anders, currently a coach in Olathe, KS, spoke last month to a group of youngsters about living your dreams.

  • Turns out that an Arizona man had plans to shoot a bunch of people who were leaving the Super Bowl.

  • With a little bravery and gumption, you too can sneak into a ton of Super Bowl Events.
Wooh...already one of those mornings. Anyone else having one of those? I'll be back later this morning. Enjoy the links!

That deadspin link
is awesome.

Imagine being that fan who sneaks into the Super Bowl celebrations.  Definitely worth the read (and there's pictures).

That interview with Gun
gave me some real hope for this upcoming season.  I can just see him getting real giddy if we get Sedrick and things work out with the line.

But it made me stop and think about something;  he mentioned they were taking a sledgehammer to the defense.  I wonder if the same is true with the offense?  Other than Waters, Croyle, Gonzalez and Bowe, is anyones job safe as a starter from last year?

Also, it makes me wonder about our plans for a kicker.  With last years problems, what percentage of made kicks are we willing to live with just to fill the roster spot?  And what distances are we willing to live without by taking a less than average body?

I'm glad we have all this time to think about it.

Jim Haslett
had a fantastic quote - "You know what I like about Jared Allen? When he smells blood he goes in to kill. He smelled the guy in Cincinnati and destroyed his life."  The whole "destroyed his life" thing is priceless.

Podcast of Gun
is up on 810AM's site:
http://www.810whb.com/podcast.asp
(Under "Additional Programming", at the bottom of the stack)

I don't think it's the entire session, but it's still a pretty good listen.
